Fine Arts
Mission Statement
Psalm 92:4-5 For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy. How great are your works, O Lord!
Music and other forms of fine art are powerful components of worship. Fine arts can awaken our senses and make our worship more meaningful. When we worship God, we are surrounded by highly symbolic works of art that point our minds and our hearts toward or Creator and Savior. Beautiful in themselves, these works are an inherent part of worship, inspiring and enhancing our appreciation of the glory of God. Because of its creative nature, art is truly a reflection of God’s creative Spirit. Through the creation and the perception of beauty, we praise and celebrate the creative power of God. Art is, in this respect, an aspect of worship.
The programs in our Fine Arts Department are comprised of artists and members of our church. We are responsible for not only recognizing talent, but also its development. We are currently exploring ways to highlight literary arts as well as visual arts.
The Fine Arts Ministry at SBWPWC is committed to the arts as a ministry. God wants us to use our abilities no matter how great or small. The purpose of the Fine Arts Ministry is to create a spiritual atmosphere that is conducive to worship and giving glory to God. Our Fine Arts Ministry offers people an experience where they can become connected to this vibrant part of the life of the church and gives the believer the capability to be a witness and inspiration to others through instrumental music, singing, miming, dancing, and acting. Whether you sing, play an instrument, mine, dance, or just have a fondness for the arts, there is a place for you in our Music and Fine Arts Ministry. All are invited to experience worship with us as a congregant, or as a participant in one of our ministries.
